A former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has repeatedly maintained that it is too early in the day to start discussing the 2023 elections. - The former president gives such a reply whenever he is asked if he has any plan to contest in the next presidential election.
- The publication also reported that the growing rapport between Jonathan and some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is causing anxiety in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The newspaper claimed PDP members are uncomfortable with the frequency of ex-president’s visits to the presidential villa in recent times.
It said the party was puzzled that when the last of such visits occurred on December 15, 2020, neither Jonathan nor the presidency said a word about the purpose of the former president’s visits.
The opposition party was also said to have been disturbed by rumours that APC may consider the former leader for its 2023 presidential ticket.
However, Jonathan has remained silent over his sudden closeness with the ruling party and his speculated 2023 ambition presidential contest.
Meanwhile, two chieftains of the APC have recommended Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor David Umahi as the best politicians to rule Nigeria in 2023.
The recommendations were made by the speaker of Kogi House of Assembly, Mathew Kolawole, and his counterpart in the Ebonyi House of Assembly, Francis Nwifuru.
Both men at a political meeting in Ebonyi state argued that Bello and Umahi have the required experience for the presidency.
In another news, Rochas Okorocha, a former governor of Imo state and serving senator, has said that he and other progressive-minded politicians are muting a new political order ahead of 2023.
The reporthe said this is as a result of the silent agitations and complaints across the country against the current state of the nation.
