Two suspects arrested in connection with the killing of Hon. Justice Azuka, the Lawmaker representing Onitsha 1 constituency in Anambra state have escaped from police custody.

The Anambra police command spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement, said the suspects escaped when they led the police investigating team to arrest other members of the gang including the buyer of the SUV belonging to the late Lawmaker.

According to the police, two vehicles used during the killing of the Lawmaker was recovered but the suspects used the opportunity to escape despite the presence of armed police officers and men.

The Anambra police commissioner CP Ikioye Orutugu has deployed both human, operational and intelligence team across the state to ensure that the suspects are rearrested.

Meanwhile, police officers involved in the operation which led to the escape of the suspects have been detained as investigation surrounding the escape continues.
