In an article written by Mr. Femi Adesina, an aide to President Muhammed Buhari on media titled “Buhari And the Descendants Of Shimei”, trending in the media, he sought to educate Nigerians, especially those in the opposition how it’s not good to rejoice over another’s ill health or misfortunes.
He opined that Nigerians, and the opposition should pray for Buhari’s recovery, and not attack him in his trying times. Mr. Adesina then referred to those attacking Buhari as the descendants of Shimei, referring to the story of a certain man named Shimei in the old testament Bible.
Shimei was the man who took advantage of King David’s trying moment to insult and attack him as he fled from his son Absalom who sought to overthrow him.
I strongly believe that it’s not a good thing to do, that is to rejoice over another person’s misfortune. I have written articles in the past condemning those disparaging President Buhari, mocking him over his health challenges. I believe that a person’s health problems should not be politicized, however, I am of the opinion that example is the best form of instruction, and as far as APC, and their disciples did even worse things than what they are accusing other people of doing, they are not qualified to condemn or instruct those who now engage in what they learnt from them.
Those who come to equity should come with clean hands, and just conscience.
It’s rather unfortunate that someone like Mr. Femi Adesina is talking about the descendants of Shimei concerning the people’s reactions or criticisms of Buhari’s ill health.
Personally, I believe that it’s not good to rejoice over another’s ill health or misfortune, hence I have written an article to that effect. However, I want to say that the right person(s) to condemn those saying unfriendly things about Buhari’s ill health and bad governance is not people like Femi Adesina, Lai Muhammed and other APC apologists.
These people did and said worst things about President Ya’rdua’s ill health and government than anyone is saying and doing to Buhari right now. It was not only Ya’rdua’s person that these people castigated and maligned, they said and did even worse things to Jonathan and his administration. Yet, these persons are now the ones trying to teach us morals, please let no teacher teach me nonsense.
Since I began following and monitoring politics and administrations, I have never before seen a sitting government or our Commander in Chief insulted the way Lai Muhammed, with the full backing of APC and its apologists insulted the person of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and his administration. Even Gen. Buhari did and said worst things to Jonathan’s person and government, now APC, Buhari and their cronies, like Femi Adesina together with Lai Muhammed are trying to indoctrinate us on how change should start with us, and how we should respect constituted authority.. “teacher, don’t teach me nonsense”.
My conclusion is that of a truth, it’s the APC, President Buhari and their apologists that are the perfect example of the descendants of Shimei.
Again, another thing I want to add concerning what Mr. Femi Adesina said is that, as much as Buhari has all the rights to attend to his health, he should do the right thing by resigning from the exalted office which he occupies, and which he now does contrarily to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Since Hitherto, he has been incapacitated and having prolonged inability to discharge his duties as the commander in chief and executive president of the FRN, he should resign or be impeached as stipulated by the laws of our land.
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo counselled President Ya’rdua to honourably do that during Ya’rdua’s health challenges. I am just wondering why Obasanjo has held his peace in the face of this flagrant breach of the laws of Nigeria. Is what is good for the goose no more good for the gender?
