Late President Mohammadu Buhari lived a fulfilled life and gave his best service to Nigeria. Buhari served in various strategic positions and sensitive offices before he finally passed on Sunday , July 13, 2025. His passing was a rude shock to the diplomatic community, the Nigerian Army, his immediate family and Nigeria at large.

Against this backdrop, several rumours were peddled concerning his health condition and the worst was the fragmented death stories and speculations over his earlier 2017 medical trip.

Recall that , several social media outlets and media houses carried the story that Buhari was dead in London when he went for medical vacation in his second term in office.

This rumour created a lot of devastating effects to the citizens who then felt insecure of the government leadership under Buhari. Until his threatening ill health subsided, Buhari retuned to office in full capacity and good look, that surprised his enemies and political opponents.

Though , there was no official pronouncement of Buhari’s death before the 13th July demise , by any quarter accept some fragmented stories peddled by chronic rumour mongers targetted at distracting governance. Such fake stories caused a lot of distrust even when Mohammadu Buhari resurfaced on a fresh look, younger and continued his official duties as President.

Condolence letters were spotted here and there to back up the sordid claim of detractors together with many generated images of Buhari medical inconsistencies, declaration of both his demise and earlier burial. Perhaps, there’s indeed many images AI can generate that dud not happen to the firm believe of the gullible morons.

The funniest aspect of Buhari’s earlier death rumour was that people patronized fake news, skirt contents and believed fake stories to be realities of life. The fact is that there was one Mohammadu Buhari who died at a London clinic on the 13 day of July , 2025. From my investigation therefore , any other argument on this established fact is a crude misinformation and capital lies from the pit of hell.

There are quality virtues deposit in Buhari’s lifestyle that people should know:

In a recent interview with Arise Television 10:09, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda reflected on the lifestyle and choices of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari after leaving office. Radda’s remarks shed light on the quiet and principled way Buhari chose to live following his presidency—one that stood in contrast to the more politically visible paths taken by his predecessors.

Governor Radda noted that Buhari deliberately distanced himself from the seat of power in Abuja and never attempted to remain in the political spotlight. Rather than acquire a home in the capital or linger around the presidency, he returned to his hometown of Daura and stayed away from federal affairs. He only visited Abuja once, Radda said, and even then, he refused to sleep over.

According to him, “If you look, I think he’s the only head of state or former president of this country that does not have a house in Abuja. Since he left office for the last 2 years, he only went to Abuja once when they launched his book, and he didn’t sleep in Abuja; he came back. There was a time we asked him, “Why don’t you want to sleep or stay in Abuja?” He said, “You don’t need to have two sheriffs in town because I’m out of office, so I need to leave so that I can allow the current president to run the government smoothly as he wants and without any interference.”

However, record has it that Mohammadu Buhari started from a humble beginning and ascended to greatness. Born December 17, 1942, in Daura Katsina State Buhari lost His Father at the age of Four (4) and was brought up by His kanuri mother.

In 1962, Buhari joined the Nigerian Army, trained in the United Kingdom UK and fought in the Nigerian civil war between 1967 and 1970.

By 1975 Buhari was appointed Military Governor of the North Eastern State where he showcased his military experience in administration and governance. Later , he was appointed Federal Commissioner For Petroleum and became chairman NNPC in 1977.

Buhari became Nigeria’s Military President in 1982 through a military coup de ta that ousted Shehu Shagari from office and in 1985, Buhari through same military coup de ta was removed by Abrahim Babangida and was detained in prison for 3Years.

In the 1990’s, Buhari was returned to serve as Chairman Petroleum Trust Fund under Gen Sani Abacha which took him to a return to civilian politics in the twentieth (20th) century.

It is important to note that Buhari contested for Presidency through the ANPP in 2023 and was defeated by Olusegun Obasanjo of PDP. Buhari tried again through same ANPP in 2027 and Yaradua defeated him.

Defeated twice through a particular political party- ANPP in 2023 and 2027, Buhari floated CPC and was defeated by Goodluck Jonathan of PDP. As a die-hard personality in leadership and administration, Buhari did not give up until he won in 2025 through a merger APC ticker against the incumbent President Jonathan in 2015.

For want of space , from 2015 till 2023, the ship of governance was on his shoulder as GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Later on in 2027, Buhari was faced with a life threatening illness in 2017 wherein rumour announced his demise while he was still on medical trip in London.

Femi Adesina highlighted his interview with his Boss in the month of March 2025, in his Kaduna home which was newly renovated by the Tinubu Renewned Hope Administration, before his last trip to London that Buhari never returned alive.

Adesina hinted that Mohammadu Buhari was in readiness to his grave even before the news broke out. “And the last question was , Mr President, after here , what next? And he said, “I am looking forward to leaving, and from here , I go toy grave at the appointed time ” The appointed time came on Sunday 13, July 2025.

Tributes to Muhammadu Buhari (1942-2025), at ( 82 years) is endless.

“Mai Gaskiya, your duty is done. “He deepened institutions, strengthened Nigeria’s sovereignty, “His legacies remain visible, impactful, “A true partner in democracy, “A sentinel of duty, “A man of unquestionable integrity, ” Sunset of A great man, “Icon of Leadership, “A man of sincerity and honesty, “

Engraved in “The Nations” Editorial, ‘His personal magnetism , built on solid honour, was undeniable. He was a true folk hero, which explains the grassroots popularity he enjoyed-an invaluable political asset. His nickname, “Mai Gaskiya, a Hausa phrase that translates to “truthful one” or the honest one,” was indeed a lesson in leadership ‘

Another sensible highlight in the Buhari demise was the special Federal Executive Session FEC co-ordinated by SGF George Akume wherein the only Son, Yusuf Buhari and his sisters expressed deepest gratitude in tears and mourning mood.

Rest In Perfect Peace, Great Man!
