Olaide Oyelude, Katsina
Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has appealed to Nigerians to have faith in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, assuring them that the President will not disappoint the nation.
The governor also called for continuous prayers for the President and for God to deliver Nigeria from her current challenges.
Masari made the remarks shortly after the Eid-el-Kabir prayer in Katsina, a statement by his media assistant, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, on Tuesday.
He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari is not new on this job, nor is the challenge new to him. In 1983, when the country was tottering on the brink of collapse he came in and salvaged the situation.
“That passion and burning desire to serve selflessly are still in him. These are evident in the manner he is handling the economy and the security challenges confronting the country.
“God has brought him again to do that which he successfully did all those years back when economic and security challenges had all but brought the country down on its knees, and I am confident that he will do it if we give him the support and cooperation he requires. He needs our prayers too.”
The governor stressed that there was no challenge that committed leadership and prayers could not overcome, adding that he had no doubt in the capacity and ability of President Buhari to lead Nigeria back onto the path of prosperity.
Masari, therefore, called on Nigerians at home and abroad, especially those currently on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia to pray for the nation and its leaders.
This, he said, was because a combination of commitment from the leadership and prayers from the people were needed for Nigeria to get out of recession and overcome the security challenges it was facing.
He also called on Nigerians to learn from the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir and live in unity and peace with one another, saying that both Islam and Christianity are religions of peace.
