Burkina Faso has unveiled a locally owned textile manufacturing company aimed at producing uniforms for the country’s military and other institutions.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader push to strengthen domestic manufacturing, promote industrialisation and reduce the country’s dependence on imported textile products.
Under the new arrangement, military uniforms and clothing for other government institutions will be produced domestically, creating a more Integrated local supply chain for official uniforms.

The development is also expected to support job creation, develop local technical skills and provide new opportunities for Burkina Faso’s textile and garment industry.
The move reflects the country’s growing emphasis on economy sovereignty and self-reliance, particularly in strategic sectors where it has historically depended on foreign suppliers.
With the production of military and institutional uniforms increasingly taking place in Burkina Faso, authority are seeking to ensure that more of the resource spent on government procurement remain within the national economy.

The initiative signals another step in Burkina Faso’s drive toward greater domestic production and reduced foreign dependency.
