The Baptist Youth Fellowship (BYF) of Yaba Baptist Church has successfully concluded its 60th anniversary celebration, marking six decades of spiritual growth, youth development, service, and commitment to the church and society.
The week-long celebration, which held from Sunday, June 7 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, featured a series of impactful activities aimed at celebrating the fellowship’s journey, inspiring young people, and strengthening the bond among members, church leaders, past leaders, and invited guests.
The anniversary celebration began on Sunday with a special Sunday service in the morning at Yaba Baptist Church.
The service provided an opportunity for members to reflect on God’s faithfulness and appreciate the growth and achievements of the fellowship over the past 60 years.
On Monday evening, a Marriage Seminar was held at Yaba Baptist Church, focusing on building stronger relationships and equipping young people and families with valuable lessons for a successful home.
The activities continued on Tuesday, with the Sunday School Preparatory Programme, led by the youth in the evening.
The Youth Week Sunday School Superintendent was Sis. Bukola Adeoye.
On Wednesday, members gathered for a Worship and Prayer Session at Yaba Baptist Church, also in the evening.
The session offered an avenue for thanksgiving, spiritual reflection, and prayers for the continued success and impact of the fellowship.
The celebration also featured a Sport Day held on Friday, at Baptist Girls Academy, Obanikoro.
The event created an atmosphere of recreation, unity, and fellowship among participants.
Activities included Ayo game, chess, sack race, Whot, egg race, and a football match between the youth of Yaba Baptist Church and New Estate Baptist Church, where Yaba Baptist Church emerged victorious with a 3-1 win.
The major highlight of the celebration was the 60th Anniversary Celebration Day held on Saturday, at Harmony Hall, Yaba Baptist Church.
The occasion brought together church leaders, past and present members of the fellowship, guests, and well-wishers to celebrate the remarkable history and achievements of BYF Yaba Baptist Church.
A special recognition was given to Baba S.T. Ojesina, the living first president of the Youth Fellowship, for his pioneering role and contribution to the foundation and growth of the organisation.
Other past presidents of the fellowship were also celebrated for their leadership and service, including Dcn. Babatunde Adejumobi, Mr. Kola Aderigbigbe, Dcn. Engr. Dr. Kehinde Orolu, Mr. Taiwo Orolu, and Mr. David.
During a discussion session between the youth and elders of the church, Prof. Dr. Mrs. Alade expressed her joy in identifying with the youth because of the positive difference they are making.
She encouraged them to continue impacting lives while remembering to extend their support and influence to others.
The anniversary celebration also featured the recognition of outstanding youths. Funmilola Ofunama was honoured as the “Youth of the Year” for her dedication, service, and positive impact within the youth community.
Other award recipients included Victory Olamide Taiwo (Reaganite of the Year), Darasimi Opasina (Teenager of the Year), Mr. & Mrs. Olusola Elizabeth Banjo (Couple of the Year), Olumide Okeseyin (Akinade Award for Evangelism), Mrs. Bukola Adeoye (Wale Famodun Award for Spiritual Commitment), and Mark Aniekan (Rev. Femi Afolabi Award for Discipleship).
Awards were also presented to winners of the 2026 Youth Week Bible Quiz, including Adetolani Samson (1st position), Adewunmi Salamade (2nd position), and Oluwadarasimi Opasina (3rd position).
The anniversary concluded on Sunday, June 14, with a Thanksgiving Service at Yaba Baptist Church by 10:00am.
The service marked the end of the celebration and provided an opportunity to appreciate God’s guidance and faithfulness throughout the 60-year journey.
The Baptist Youth Fellowship expressed gratitude to God, church leadership, members, past leaders, and supporters who have contributed to the success of the fellowship.
The celebration reaffirmed BYF’s commitment to nurturing young people, building stronger communities, and sustaining its legacy of faith, service, and excellence for generations to come.
