Jos (9News Nigeria) – Former Governor Plateau State, Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye has been granted pardon on Thursday by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council of State meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Also Rock, Abuja.
Senator Dariye who was the Governor of Plateau State from 1999 to 2007, was impeached in November 2006, through the impeachment was nullified by an Appeal Court and was returned back to the office in March 2007.
Dariye on November 16, 2018, was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for financial mismanagement that led to diverting of Public funds estimated at #1.162 billion while in office.
However, Today in Jos the Plateau State capital, it was a celebration galore after the news of the former Governor of the state was announced, as many were seen rejoicing while others were singing praises, while others were seen jubilating in some parts of the city centre visited by 9News Nigeria.
