Thomas Hobbes once posited, “Both parts of a contradiction cannot possibly be true” but in the Ohaji -Owerri Guber paradox some elements of truism is paramount.

Governorship aspirants from Okigwe and Orlu zone have threatened to destroy the zoning arrangement as agreed upon by the Imo State government under Governor Hope Uzodinma and All Progressives Congress APC administration.

Our correspondent gathered that emerging Governorship aspirants from the said zones , Orlu and Okigwe have insisted to threaten the State Charter Of Equity.

Several insinuations from both zones have attracted more attention than that of the emerging aspirants from Owerri zone as 9News reports.

The Chief Charles Orie’s Guber aspiration is an interesting legitimate race that can unite all the zone across Imo political divide in the upcoming 2027 election. Accordingly, Orie’s candidacy is expected to spark up the brotherly relationship between Ohaji people and Ndi Owerri zone.

The Imo State governorship election in 2027 is shaping up to be a highly competitive contest, with emerging aspirants from Orlu and Okigwe zones posing a significant threat to the Imo Charter of Equity, which favours Owerri Zone.

Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim and Charles Orie, former managing director of ISOPADEC, have indicated their intentions to run, alongside others triggering concerns about the chances of Owerri zone producing the next governor.

The zone’s chances rely heavily on the support of Orlu and Okigwe zones. If these zones team up against Owerri, it could be a significant obstacle as the indices have shown.

Recall that the highly chorused Imo Charter of Equity aims to ensure the equitable rotation of the governorship among the state’s three geopolitical zones.

However, with more aspirants from Orlu Zone joining the race, despite the zone’s prolonged dominance in the governorship, the charter’s effectiveness is being tested.

To counter the challenge posed by Orlu and Okigwe zones, Owerri zone will need to work exceptionally hard to garner support and build alliances.

The outcome of the 2027 governorship election will depend on various factors, including the candidates’ popularity, party affiliations, and campaign strategies.

Furthermore, the Chief Charles Orie’s entrance into the race is particularly concerning for Owerri zone’s chances, given his massive popularity and widespread love from people across the three zones.

His leadership style, described as leading from the front, has made him a pace-setter and pathfinder as 9News Nigeria reports. Other contenders from same Owerri zone are yet to show face in the zoning arrangement talk more of working to grab the 2027 Guber slot.

Additionally, Chief Charles Orie’s reputation as a man of action, with a developmental strategy for curbing issues in the oil-producing region and beyond, may further bolster his support.

On interview with 9News , some notable Imolites have accepted the Charter to come in place as agreed but some others who have sympathy for Owerri zone producing the next Governor are particularly worried as gathered.

The Ohaji born Charles Orie is a ready to deliver best services to Ndi Imo as he had earlier told 9News Nigeria.

It is a known fact that Ohaji, especially OHOBA Court area, comprising of OHOBA, Mgbirichi, Obosima, Amafor, Obogwe, Umuokanne, Asaa, Awara, Ilile, etc belong to Owerri Province as indicated in the old Owerri regional plan.

Prior to 1914 amalgamation and the era of the Christian Missionaries, Ohaji cohabit with their Owerri brothers and shares all in common, traditionally even till this day at the level of Catholic Diocese Fellowships among others.

Their historical origin is Ara County Council where communities like Avu, Oforola, Obinze, Okuku, Umuguma and others got involved.

However, just as Igbos cannot discountenance Ikwere and Anioma, it will be a catastrophic political mistake for Owerri zone to reject their brothers in Ohaji area, regardless of Nigeria’s DIVIDE- AND-RULE exclusionist manipulations based on economic considerations, Ohaji stakeholders posited.

Taken from the Biblical angle of defence and truth, it is written that every reckoning tribe do not leave her people behind and same challenge is what Owerri zone is facing to choose rightly the best candidate to run for the 2027 Governorship race.

From records, Owerri zone have the following aspirants who posses the needed heavy weight and capacity to give Imo the best leadership; Chief Charles Orie from Ohaji, Chief Emeka Udokporo from Owerri West and Chief Chima Amadi from Ngor Okpala, His Excellency Prince Eze Madumere from mbieri, among others.

The Okigwe and Orlu aspirants are best advised to obey the Charter of Equity and allow Owerri zone slug it out among themselves and present the best candidate acceptable to all political parties and Ndi Imo at large.

In this context as compiled by 9News, The Latin word “Paradoxum which simply means paradox , having seemingly contradictory qualities or phases should be resolved to enable Imolites enjoy a smooth Governorship rotation.
