A social media user has made a derogatory remark about Chicago State University’s claim that Tinubu’s university certificate was issued by a third-party vendor.
The social media user opined that it is possible that Oluwole in Lagos Island may have issued the contested certificate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reno Omokiri @renoomokri #TableShaker made a tweet stating “To all of you believing the fake news read it in black and white from Mr. Caleb Westberg, the registrar of Chicago State University. Read paragraph 3. They never denied Tinubu nor said his certificate was a forgery. What they said is clear. The certificate he tendered to the INEC is a ceremonial replacement certificate, which is usually issued by third-party vendors.”
The argument is that the University of Chicago claims that the certificate with discrepancies and complicated information was not issued by their institution. CSU also argued that it is a normal practice for students to resort to a third-party vendor to reproduce their academic records if the original one was lost.
In the case of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his original Chicago State University certificate got lost when he was in political exile and that was why he only had to resort to a third-party vendor to reproduce another fresh one. The problem arose from the fact that the third-party certificate had information that enormously differed from the one issued on court demand by CSU.
To resolve the curiosity that arose from these suspicious scenarios, opinions arose that the Oluwole expert document forgers must have been the culprit and not Chicago State University nor President Tinubu.
Case closed.
The Chicago State University (CSU) released the academic records of President Bola Tinubu to his political opponent, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday after protracted back-and-forth motions.
Following the aftermath of the February 2023 election, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar requested the documents to back his allegation of forgery of the CSU certificate against Tinubu.
Through his lawyers, Atiku sought these key things – an example of a CSU diploma issued in 1979; Tinubu’s diploma issued in 1979; an example of a CSU diploma that “contains the same font, seal, signatures and wording” as Tinubu’s diploma issued in June 1979 and CSU documents certified and produced by Jamar Orr, an associate general counsel at CSU at the time.
The documents contained Tinubu’s admission records, and a letter dated 27 June 2022 confirming that he attended the university from August 1977 to June 1979 majoring in accounting. The letter said Tinubu was awarded Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Honours on 22 June 1979.
A critical look at the documents showed that the certificate that Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is different from the certificates CSU issued in 1979. Tinubu, who had previously claimed to have lost his original certificates, presented a replacement of his CSU diploma to INEC.
