
Renowned Nigerian author and activist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has share why she chose to keep the birth of her twin sons private.
In an interview with The Guardian UK on Saturday February 15, the 47-year-old writer disclosed that she welcomed ber twins on April 2024.
Known for guarding her personal life closely, Adichie has kept details of her marriage to Nigerian-American doctor Ivara Esege largely out of the public eye.
Adichie and Esege tied the knot in 2009, and 2016, they welcomed their first child, a daughter who is now nine years old.
When asked about her decision to keep her twins away from public scrutiny, Adichie explained;

“You’ve met my babies. I want to protect my children. I don’t mind mentioning them, but I don’t want the focus to be on them”.
She also spoke about Nigerian’s curiosity regarding the personal lives of public figure adding, “People want to know everything, but I push back against that, I rarely discuss my private life because I don’t believe we need to know everything about intellectuals”.
Her remarks highlight her commitment to maintaining a balance between public engagement and personal privacy.
