China’s Foreign Minister Arrives In Nigeria, meets Counterpart In Abuja (Photo)

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, held a high-profile meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, and members of his delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja on Wednesday.

The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and China, particularly emphasising cooperation in trade, investment, health, technology, and infrastructure development.

Ambassador Tuggar, in his opening remarks, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering a more resilient partnership with China.

He recalled President Bola Tinubu’s visit to China in September 2024, during which four Memoranda of Understanding were signed, emphasising that their implementation remains on track.

Wang Yi stated that his visit marks the continuation of deliberations from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit held last year.

He reiterated China’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with Nigeria and promoting regional growth, peace, and stability.

The Chinese foreign minister’s delegation arrived in Nigeria at 7:15 pm local time. They were received by key officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, and the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai.

During his stay, Wang Yi is expected to engage in high-level discussions with government officials on pressing global issues, regional security, and economic development.
