Nigeria ruling All Progressive Congress – APC was yesterday caught in the web of Party domestic confusion, which may spread beyond its jurisdiction to affect her inter-party relationship and Nigeria as a country.

The APC dominated Nigeria Senate which is in a threshold to change the selection process of Party Primaries from Indirect Primaries for 2023 general elections to Direct Primaries which the main opposition Party (People Democratic Party – PDP) opposes, could not conduct a mere Party Congress yesterday.

As complex as the Direct Primaries is, the ruling APC failed in 13 States yesterday as she could not conduct an elementary one- house State Congress, but was seen factionalized into two or three interest groups to institute the leadership of the Party in respective States.

The confusion seen within APC yesterday got Nigerians wondering and asked: “If APC cannot be fair to all its members and conduct a mere Party Congress within its house, imagine the confusion she will put the whole country if she finally succeed to institute the Direct Primaries she want to sign into law”, Nigerians wonder aloud.

A case study of the said confusion, is cinematography staged by the All Progressive Congress APC yesterday in Akwa Ibom State.

Akwa Ibom State is ruled under the mantra of the People Democratic Party – PDP. But faithfuls of the All Progressive Congress – APC believe that their Party will turn the table this time around despite their multiple failed attempt since 2007.

APC in Akwa Ibom State is factionalized into Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, current APC Acting National Secretary’s interest group, Senator Godswill Akpabio, current Minister of Niger Delta Ministry Affairs and Senator Ita Solomon Enang, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs interest groups.

The APC State Congress held on Saturday 16, October 2021 Nationwide was a charade in most States, with various factions having parallel congresses here and there.

In Akwa Ibom State, the Acting National Secretary of the Party, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe produced Mr. Austin Ekanem as his Chairman, while the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio who decamped from PDP to APC produced Stephen Ntukekpo as his Chairman and Senator Ita Enang has Mr. Douglas Elewe Pepple as his Chairman.

While Akwa Ibom is the with the State with the highest number of State Chairmen, other 12 States in the same state of confusion produced two Chairmen each.
