The couple, Mr. and Mrs. Effiom Nsefik have allegedly beaten up the Police Public Relations Officer of Cross River State Command, ASP Irene Ugbo.
DSP Igri Ewa, Deputy PPRO who confirmed the report said the Police spokesman, Irene Ugbo was attacked by the couple who happens to be her neighbor while she was leaving for the office.
According to DSP Igri, the incident took place at Nsefik Layout off Marian road, Calabar where Irene waded in to call for calm in a quarrel between her landlord and the younger brother Mr. Effiom.
In what is viewed as a transfer of aggression from Mr. Effiom who claims Irene is coming in as a Police officer beat her up and his wife followed suit.
He said the matter has been reported to the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Usman Baba, and the suspects are in Police custody.
“We are talking about Police respecting the rights of citizens but see how Irene was seriously assaulted yesterday.
