A Magistrate Court setting in Minna, Niger State has granted bail to 23-year-old Usman Haruna Musa, who is facing charges related to the alleged sexual assault of a 3-year -old girl in Dutse Kura Gwari area of Niger State.
According to the court and police records, the incident occurred on February 19, 2026. The victim’s mother reported that she noticed the child was having difficulty walking and questioned her about it. The child stated that “Baba touched her bom” A subsequent examination revealed the presence of blood and semen, prompting a report to the police clinic for medical examination, where the penetration was confirmed by the medical personnel.
Musa was arrested on March 6, 2026, and reportedly confessed to the offense. He was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Gender Unit, at the Niger State Police Headquarters in Minna. He was later arraigned before Magistrate Court 7 and remanded in custody for 27 days.
The suspect appeared in court this week, where his counsel filed a bail application. The court granted the application and released defendant on bail. The decision was met with surprise by several observers present, including police officers. The matter remains before the court, and further proceeding are expected.
