Portugal and Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first active athlete in history to surpass $2 billion in career earnings.

The 41-year-old football icon has accumulated an estimated $2.1 billion in career earnings before taxes and agents’ fees.

Forbes estimates that Ronaldo has earned approximately $1.4 billion from football, including salaries and bonuses, while another $700 million has come from endorsements and business ventures.

His financial milestone continues to reach unprecedented levels following his move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in 2023.

Ronaldo’s current Al-Nassr contract is believed to pay him more than $200 million annually, making it one of the most lucrative deals in sporting history.

He renewed his contract with the club in 2025.

Forbes also ranked Ronaldo as the world’s highest-paid athlete for 2026, estimating that he earned $300 million over the previous 12 months.

With approximately $235 million coming from his football earnings, while another $65 million was generated off the pitch through endorsements, appearances, licensing, and other business activities.

The $300 million haul represents the highest annual earnings of Ronaldo’s career and matches the record for a single-year haul by an athlete, previously set by boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2015.

Ronaldo has now topped Forbes’ annual highest-paid athlete ranking for four consecutive years and six times overall, placing him behind only Tiger Woods in the number of times he has occupied the top position.

Forbes estimates Ronaldo’s current net worth at $1.2 billion, making him one of only a handful of active athletes to reach billionaire status.

The publication identifies him alongside athletes including LeBron James, Tiger Woods and his long-time football rival Lionel Messi.
