Governor Ben Ayade who ignored all threats by the All Progressive Congress APC in the State to seek redress in court for wrong process leading to the conduct of the State Local Government Council Election still went ahead with the elections processes as designed by Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission CROSIEC which held on Saturday May 30, 2020.
The inauguration of the new Council Chairmen which had all of them emerged from the people Democratic Party PDP ignored the earlier Press Release written by State APC Chairman Sir John Ochala who intructed all organs of his Party in the State to stay off all plans of the election as scheduled by CROSIEC.
The inauguration which held in the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s office, Calabar was conduct in accordance to laid down COVID-19 protocol
In his speech Sir Ayade urged the newly elected Council Chairmen to avoid unnecessary trips outside their councils, harping on the need for them to stay back home and work for their people.
He disclosed that his administration has left behind for the newly elected chairmen, N11.386 billion as take off fund, so they have no reason not to perform.
He further implored the Chairmen not to engage in grandiose projects but concentrate on simple projects that directly impact on the lives of the people.
In further advice he told the chairmen to work harmoniously with their councillors so as to effectively serve the people.
He urged them to reside in their respective Local Government Areas so as to be abreast of the needs of their people.
