Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) and its subsidiaries have reaffirmed their status as Nigeria’s leading corporate taxpayers, remitting over N402.3 billion in taxes in 2024.
The disclosure was made by Anthony Chiejina, Chief Branding and Communication Officer of Dangote Group, during a meeting with senior media executives at his Lagos office.
He emphasized the company’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, noting that subsidiaries such as Dangote Cement, NASCON, and Dangote Packaging Limited played a significant role in the total tax remittance.
“As responsible business enterprises, we have never shied away from our obligations, whether to the government through tax payments or to our host communities through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” Chiejina stated.
In late 2024, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) named DIL and its subsidiary, Bluestar Shipping, as Nigeria’s most tax-compliant organizations during its Special Day at the 2024 Lagos International Trade Fair, organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
The FIRS, responsible for tax collection and administration in Nigeria, has consistently praised Dangote Group for its adherence to tax regulations, further solidifying its position as a model corporate citizen.
Chiejina highlighted how Dangote Group’s corporate strategy has evolved over the past four decades, enabling Nigeria to achieve self-sufficiency in cement production and refined petroleum products.
He noted that the company’s rapid expansion across Africa continues to contribute to regional economic development.
Dangote Cement, a key subsidiary and Nigeria’s leading cement manufacturer, has also gained recognition beyond tax compliance.
At the prestigious FMDQ Gold Awards in Lagos, the company won three top honors, including: Most Active Business in the Foreign Exchange Market, Largest Commercial Paper Quotation on FMDQ, Single Largest Corporate Debt Issue on FMDQ
