Stakeholders in Imo state have continued to criticize the continuous struggle for the survival of state edifice built by previous governors to improve the state.
This statement was an outcome of a technical meeting held in an undisclosed hotel in owerri few hours ago.
Information revealed to newsmen has it that Imo state governor would have kick start with more important projects than the continues breaking of state edifices built by his predecessors.
They however berates the state legislators who have allowed the governor to endulge in such a wastage of state resources on breaking of roundabouts than to channel the funds to construction of major busy roads in the state.
Recall that a few months ago, the famous SOMTO HOSPITAL built in the former Eke Onunwa popular market was demolished by governor Uzodinma and till the time of this report no serious work was done to replace the structure.
Roundabouts in the municipality are taking their turn. One could notice that the roundabouts at shop Rite along egbu road, Emmanuel college bus stop, Naze/Aba road and many others are demolished without recourse to the millions of allocation released by the state in the previous government to build these structures.
Another fault expressed by Imolites is the delay of commencement of important projects which was shortchanged with demolitions all over the state and the house of Assembly is keeping mute over it.
9News Nigeria swiftly took a trip round the state to ascertain the level of work done on the Former Flyover tunnels along owerri portharcourt road to buttress my point and it was confirmed both flyovers are demolished without any iota of serious work done till date.
Record has it that the politics of Imo state is bedevilled with bitterness, anguish, greed, bickering and ill sentiments to make choices.God fatherism is also a deadly factor that has led the state backwards in development.
Also visitors at this festive season have criticized this anomaly and call on the house of assembly to do the needful to call the governor to order to avoid wasting of state resources on continuous demolitions than facing the real leadership the people has called for.
Likening this ugly scenerio to the developments seen in place in Ebonyi and Enugu state, Imolites will continue to ask if the allocation and IGR of Imo is equal to its brother under developing state “ABIA” judging by the insensitivity of government to the needs of the people.
Furthermore, the statement that the government is a continuum may just be a mere rhetorics, since it is difficult for succeeding governors to consolidate good works of their predecessors.
