A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State, Sir. Celestine Omehia has dragged the Rivers State Government to Court following his derecognition as Governor of the State.

Sources say Omehia wants the State Government to pay for damages.

Omehia, who was recognized by Gov. Nyesom Wike as a former governor of the State, was a few weeks ago derecognized for allegedly supporting Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party, against the wish of Nyesom Wike.

However, Gov. Wike had in a statement said the derecognition is not political as the State Assembly only realized that recognizing Omehia was a mistake and decided to correct it.

Recall that Nyesom Wike had during the inauguration of projects in the State threatened to finish anyone who leaves them for their enemies.
