Nigeria’s national Division One football league will begin its 2016/2017 season on March 22, Olushola Ogunnowo, the Executive Secretary of Nationwide League One (NLO), has said.
Ogunnowo, in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, also said the league’s Division Two would hold from April 5 to June 22.
“The Division Three will hold from June 27 to July 3.’’
He said the inspection of stadiums to be used by participating clubs would commence on Feb. 3.
“There will be zonal seminars for the league’s participants on Feb. 27,’’ the Executive Secretary said.
He also said players’ medical examination would hold from Feb. 1 to Feb. 28.
“Already, we have on going the online registration of players which commenced on Jan. 20, the payment for clubs/account reconciliation and collection of players’ licence,’’ Ogunnowo said.
He further said the return of approved players’ registration would commence in February.
“The NLO Board met and approved the annual calendar of activities for the league.
“In view of this, the NLO secretariat advises all clubs to please adhere strictly to the timing of the programme as there won’t be room for any extension due to the crowded activities for the season.’’(NAN)
