The management of Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) has cautioned iits clients against making payments for the installation of prepaid meters.
It said customers within its network coverage in Plateau, Benue, Bauchi and Gombe should not make any form of payments for the installation as it was absolutely free of charge
. Mr Nasir Faskeri, the Meter Asset Management (MAP) desk officer of JEDC, who gave the caution on Sunday urged the customers to report any of their personnel who asked for fees for the installation of the prepaid meters.
He said the process of acquiring a meter with the company entailed the opening of an account to register the customer’s details, adding that, “The procedure for acquiring a meter doesn’t exceed 24 hours”
He explained that a customer obtaining a single-phase meter would pay N88, 000 only while a three-phase meter would pay N154,000 only.
