The Founder and Chairman of Adeleke University in Ede, Osun state, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke has been nominated as Patron of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), in recognition of his magnanimous and philanthropic gestures.
He is also nominated to receive an Award of Honor from the umbrella students body.
A letter signed by the National President of NANS, Com. Danielson Bamidele Akpan and the Secretary General, Com. Farouk Umar, described Dr. Adeleke as a nation builder who is using his responsible position in the society to positively impact on the plight of lecturers, indigent students, the overall education sector in Nigeria and humanity in general.
The letter emphasize that, in spite of the disastrous effect of the Covid-19 pandemic and consequent reduction in financial inflow, Dr. Adeleke did not find it worthy to slash the salaries of lecturers and other staff of the institution he is superintending over.
NANS stressed that it is worthy of mention that the university has over half of her students population on scholarship personally endowed by Dr. Adeleke, a feat the body said must be recognised.
“The resultant effect of your magnanimity on the society is enormous as you are the biggest sponsor of indigent students in Nigeria, thereby enabling many youth who would hitherto not have had access to tertiary education and the opportunities that such could afford them.
“Adeleke Univeristy staffers are also one of the highest remunerated among private Universities in Nigeria.
“In the light of the foregoing and on that basis, the executives of the association have decided to present an Award of Honor to and you and also appoint you as a patron in recognition of your tireless support to our constituency as anything less will be a disservice to humanity”, part of the letter read.
