First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has cautioned that Nigerian young girls must be cautious about preserving their cultural identity amidst fashion trends.
She gave the warning at an event tagged, “Celebrating the organised”, as part of activities to mark Presidedent Bola Ahmed Tinubu ‘s one year in office.
“The message here is, we have to salvage our children. We see the way they dress, they keep forgetting that in Nigeria we are beautiful.
“The moment you can see what what they showcase on the screen I say we’re fashionable, we see what is going on. We are not having MET Gala, and everyone their nakedness is just everywhere and the men are well clothed.
“So we have to do something. Tell them the way it is, we don’t accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful and they are all beautiful girls but they should be confident in who they are. We know who we are and don’t lose who you are”.
She expressed concerned that without intervention, the current state of society could lead to children losing their identity. The First Lady urged women to become unifying forces in their homes and communities to drive greater prosperity for the nation.
