Early hours of Tuesday 16-11-2021, the Imo state house of Assembly reconvened at a plenary to tackle pressing issues as the law permits to make democracy accessible to the people.
9News Nigeria Owerri was live to witness its proceedings where the new speaker of the house RT.Hon.Kennedy Ibeh performed his Official duties according.
However, a motion to stern down the menace of Drug abuse and Criminalities in Imo state was presented before the floor of the house by Rt. Hon.Bar.Arthur Egwim, member representing Ideato North in the state house of Assembly.
Barr. Arthur Egwim today at plenary moved a motion to curb the menace of the consumption of chemical substances popularly known as (MKPURU MMIRI/Ice) by youths in lmo State.
The House unanimously resolved to urge the Governor Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma to reconstitute the Committee against hard drugs to work in synergy with NDLEA Commandant, the Commissioner of Police as well as the State Health Commissioner to have an interface with the legislators on ways to end the social vices rocking the State, as well as ARREST and PROSECUTE dealers and distributors of the killer substances in the State.
Meanwhile, Rt, Hon. Barr. Innocent Arthur Egwim is the Honourable member representing the good people of Ideato North.

Hon. Egwim knows his onions and is a perfect definition of what a legislator should be.
In a check conducted on him by 9News Nigeria Owerri, Arthur Egwim was the Chief Whip of the 8th assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Autonomous Communities where his outstanding performances in that committee speaks for itself.
He is always in the office, very active.Akuabata Ideato is not just experienced but the most dedicated House of Assembly member, judging from the award that was given to him a few years ago by Imo house of assembly workers.
In addition, his leadership qualities are second to none and this motion moved by him will be given due attention and Immediate passage as a law to curb drug abuse particularly the recent MKPURU MMIRI Ice and its affiliated illicit drugs which have ruined the lives of the youths mostly at the rural communities.
Recall that Ochie clan Owerri West PRESIDENT Generals few moments ago went grassroot to advocate for a total stop of the consumption of MKPURU MMIRI Ice, Cultism, Criminalities in their area.
This is a legislative backup to the campaign against drug abuse and a call to the ascent of the governor will facilitate its prompt passage by the state house of Assembly.
