The pastor in-charge of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), taka tafia in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state, Rev. Daniel Danbeki has been killed by unknown gunmen who invaded the community on Thursday night.
More than 3 other residents of TakaLafia community were also killed by the assailants including women.
The attack according to report lasted till the early hours of Friday, May 12, also recorded casualties in neighbouring Gwanje and Angwan Bege communities. The residents of the affected communities comprises Mada, Yeskwe and Gwandara descents who are predominantly small-scale farmers.
A resident of TafaLafia community identified as Mainasara also alleged that the assailants are Fulani herdsmen’s put the number of casualties at 9.
Mr Mainasara said the unfortunate attack has forced many residents to flee their homes for safety.
He appealed for the presence of security operatives in the communities to restore normalcy and ensure security of lives and property.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Gitata Division, CSP Amos Enoch who also confirmed the incident said security operatives have since been deployed to the affected communities.
“No cause for alarm, everything is under is under control”, CSP Enoch assured.
