The Edo state coordinator of Victory Advocates of Nigeria, Friday Ogieisoba has called on the national executive of the Peoples Democratic Party and other stakeholders to as a matter of urgency intervene in the ongoing rift between the Governor of Edo state and his Deputy, Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu before it turns out to another battle that could lead to the opposition party from taking the state from PDP in the forthcoming gubernatorial election slated for next year.
This clarion to the PDP was made known today. Ogieisoba says: ‘Losing Edo state to opposition party come next year election will bring a lot of set back to the ongoing development and growth in the state’.
‘We all lose together when bullying and personal attacks become a substitute for genuine conversation and principled disagreement”.
In a related development, the national president of the group, Prince Seyi Ajibola in a press statement he personally signed today urged the national working committee of the PDP, the presidential candidate of the party in the last general elections, H. E Alh. Atiku Abubakar and other stakeholders to use dispute management committee of the party to resolve the differences in-between the two party leaders in Edo state saying the best way to manage the disagreement is to make sure that all the critical stakeholders are involved to settle it amicably in the best interest of the party.
Ajibola advised, “I urge all the two parties in the ongoing rift in Edo PDP to refrain from further attacks on each and give our party leaders an ample opportunity to come into this rift in the best interest of the party because we can’t afford to lose Edo state to the opposition.”
It will be recalled that the Governor of Edo state, H. E Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy H. E. Philip Shaibu have been at loggerheads since over the succession interest or other issues. Negotiation and discussion are the greatest weapons we have for promoting peace and development in our society. VAN leaders appeal to necessary party organs to resolve the Edo saga.
