The EFCC has won a court order to permanently take over a private jet linked to fraud in the Maiduguri Emergency Power Project.
On May 18, 2026, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the final forfeiture of the Hawker 125 jet to the federal government.
The judge said the owner, Valiente Jet Limited, could not prove the money used to buy the plane was legitimate.
The jet was first seized on an interim order in November 2025.
According to EFCC, the plane was bought with money stolen from the Maiduguri power plant project.
The commission noted that, Abdulsalam Mustapha Kachallah, former chairman of the Borno State Rural Electrification Board, used his position on the project’s committee to get contracts for China Machinery Engineering Company. In return, he allegedly received kickbacks.
Mr Kachalla, popularly known as Bomboy, had earlier purchased APC aspiration form to contest for House of Representatives, but lost to incumbent Kadiri Rahis.
Investigators said $2.07 million from the contract was sent through a Bureau De Change company, Afuwa Integrated Services, using fake invoices.
The money was then sent to Brazil to buy the jet.The ownership was later transferred to Valiente Jet Limited, a company linked to Kachallah.Kachallah denied wrongdoing, saying the payments were for legitimate consultancy work.
But the EFCC argued he abused his public office and broke anti-corruption and money laundering laws.
The court agreed with the EFCC and ordered the jet forfeited to the government.
