The crisis rocking Egbor, Urugbam, and Ugwuellu Eda in Afikpo South LGA, over land dispute has led to the death of many innocent men in the affected communities.
Bishop Frank Owali from Urugbam community in Cross River State who spoke with 9News Nigeria correspondent revealed that trouble started on the 18th of March, 2018, when the Egbor sent emissaries to Urugbam warning them to stay clear from their land pointing that they have leased the land to African Stone Ltd.
Bishop Frank Owali also revealed that his life is presently at risk after plans to get him assassinated three times failed and a man from Urugbam was allegedly slaughtered like a cow by Egbor and Abanwan boys.
According to him,
The Abanwan boys with Egbor boys crossed to our farms and adopted a harmless man with 2 ten years old boys from Urugbam in the farm, their mother madam Happiness from Abanwan and married to late Emperor in Urugbam, took the courage of struggling with the armed men from Egbor and Abanwan community who came to adopt the children and pleading with them to kindly leave her children, they eventually dropped the children and left with Mr. Sabastine and slaughtered him just a day after they failed to murder me.”
The Bishop revealed to our correspondent that he has head injury as blood now often gush out of his ears because of the matchets slaps he received from Abanwan and Egbor boys during peace meeting.
He therefore calls for a safe and secured place for another peace meeting to take place in order for him to explain himself.
He noted that since other peace meetings which were called failed woefully and resulted to more clashes and the corpses that are in the mortuary are from the both communities of the two local govt areas, that the paramount ruler of Biase LGA and HULGA, the Administrator in charge of Biase Local Govt Council should call for this peace meeting in both LGAs and unbiasedly precise over such talks to stop the crisis from escalating.
