The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sunusi 11, has urged authorities to impose death penalty to anyone found guilty of the recent massacre of a family of seven in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kano State.
Sunusi condemned the brutal killings, which left a woman and her six children dead over the weekend, and appealed to the Kano State Government and justice system to ensure that the suspects face the strictest punishment under the law.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, the monarch said sparing those responsible would only encourage further violence, stressing that justice must be served swiftly and decisively to protect innocent lives. He also prayed for the repose of the victims’ souls and strength for the grieving family and wider community
The Kano Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three prime suspects in connection with the killings, naming 23-year-old Umar Auwalu, a nephew of the deceased woman, as the alleged mastermind. Two of the children’s bodies were reportedly found in a nearby well during the investigation.
Meanwhile, state authorities have taken over the prosecution of the suspects in the case, with government officials vowing that justice will be served.
The gruesome incident has sparked widespread of public outrage across Kano and beyond, with calls for stronger protections and a swift process to prevent similar crimes.
