While other Governors are busy setting only Judicial Panels of Enquiries and instituting curfew to tame irate youths, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has come up with subtle measures to quell the tension in the State.
He has directed the 18 Local Government Council Chairmen to employ 1000 (one thousand) new staff each while the State Government will employ 2000 (two thousand) making it a total of 20,000 (twenty thousand) newly employed staff.
Governor Ayade further called for indefinite suspension of payment of tuition by indigenes of the state in the state-owned Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH), extension of service year for indigenes of the state who have completed their one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and are still without jobs, he also constituted a seven-man judicial panel of inquiry to look into complaints of victims of police brutality with a charge on the panel to do a thorough job.
