The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has recieved a delegation of Borno State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (BICTDA) in it’s headquarters on Wednesday in Abuja.
Led by its Board Chairman, Dr. Idriss Mohammed Yelwa, BITCDA team was at NSE on a thank you visit.
This was following the appointment of Engr Ahmed Kabir Wanori as Chairman, Regional Development Board of the society.
They were recieved by the President of NSE and Chairman of its council, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala.
At the event Dr. Yelwa commended Engr. Oguntala for finding Wanori, also the Executive Secretary of BICTDA, worthy of the appointment.
He described the appointee as a dedicated, professional, and passionate individual who delivers on his mandates.
The regional body, Dr. Yelwa said, will achieve significant success under Wanori’s watch.
As chairman of NSE regional body, Engr Wanori is saddled with several responsibilities, including the assessment and identifying the unique infrastructural and developmental needs of each geopolitical zone.
He is also expected to formulate and provide strategic guidance and recommendations on regional development initiatives to the society and relevant stakeholders.
Other key roles are advocating for policies and programs that support sustainable regional development, leveraging engineering innovation and best practices.
Ensuring alignment with national and global development goals, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is also part of Wanori’s mandate.
Among other things, Wanori would lead collaboration with stakeholders to develop and monitor implementation frameworks for regional development projects.
Dr. Yelwa and Engr. Wanori were accompanied to the occasion by two other members of the board, Mr. Adewale Oluwalade, secretary and Dr. Mustapha Abba Tijjani.
