Former United States President Joe Biden’s prostrate cancer has spread and is causing him significant pain, his son, Hunter Biden, said.
Hunter made the disclosure during a BBC interview, describing his father’s condition as very painful and debilitating and saying it has been difficult for the family but watch.
The comments mark one of the family’s most detailed public updates since May 2025, when Joe Biden disclosed he had been diagnosed with aggressive form of prostate cancer, with the disease already having spread to his bones at the time of diagnosis.
Medical experts have said that prostrate cancer has spreads beyond the prostrate, known as metastatic prostrate cancer, can often be treated with hormone therapy, chemotherapy, and other medications aimed at slowing the disease and managing symptoms, though it is generally not considered curable.
The former President’s office has previously said Biden is working closely with his physicians to evaluate treatment options and thanked the public for its support.
Biden left office in January 2025 after serving one term as President. Since his diagnosis became public, political leaders from both parties have expressed support and wished him well during his treatment.
Hunter said the family continues to support Biden as he battles the illness, adding that he.wishes his father would complain more about the pain he is experiencing.
