Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, may have thrown the first jab, but FCT Minister Nyesom Wike showed up with the punchline and a group of schoolchildren.
Appearing on Arise TV yesterday, Amaechi, when asked about his longtime political rival, dismissed any back-and-forth with a quip: “I don’t want to join issues with children.”
While most assumed it was a metaphor, Wike took it literally.
Today, during an inspection of access roads in the Gishiri area of Katampe district, the FCT Minister was joined by a lively group of actual schoolchildren.
Wike’s trademark blend of shade and showmanship, might be turning Amaechi’s comment into a literal parade.
The children waved, smiled, and marched alongside the Minister unintentionally (or not) turning road inspection into political theatre. And with both men now trading jabs via press interviews and, apparently, primary schoolers, citizens are bracing for what might come next.
