The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has debunked reports suggesting an attempted aircraft hijack at Akure Airport, describing the claim as false and misleading.
In a separate post on X, the authority clarifies that its earlier statement regarding a security operation around the airport did not in any way suggest a hijacking incident.
The authority also dismissed a viral image circulating online, which was attached to an online publication, stating that it did not depict any event at the airport.
Recall in a statement, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, said four suspicious individuals were arrested following a distress alert that they were sighted behind the airport perimeter towards the Eleyewo community.
