Kano State State Police Command has arrested one Salisu Bala for impersonating a Police Constabulary member and extorting money from impersonating residents.
This was disclosed in a statement by the spokesman of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
Bala was arrested in Koki Quarters, wearing black police uniform with a camouflage cap.
Further Investigation revealed that four different sets of Police uniforms were found in his residence.
According to him, the suspect was arrested by some members of the Police Special Constabulary at Koki Quarters wearing a black Police uniform with camouflage cap.
Kiyawa said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is neither a Police officer nor a member of the Police Special Constabulary but an impostor masquerading as Police Special Constabulary, extorting unsuspecting members of the public.
He said four different sets of uniforms were also discovered in his residence.
The Police Commissioner assured that the Kano State Police Command will not tolerate impersonation or extortion by individuals claiming to be Police officers or members of the Police Special Constabulary and will continue to take proactive measures to safeguard the well-being of all residents in the State.
