Fake Soldier, Robber Arrested In Nasarawa

Soldiers of the . Nigerian Army (NA) have arrested a fake soldier in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawo State and handed him over to the Nasarawa State Police Command’.

In a statement, the spokesperson of the command DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect claimed to be a soldier attached to 231 Battalion Biu, Borno State, adding that investigation proved otherwise, that the criminal defrauded members of the public under the pretex of securing employment into the army.

The statement reads in part: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect attempted to join the Military but he couldn’t, Thus went to Military barracks to purchase the uniform he is using for his nefarious activities”.

In another development, the command said it apprehended a notorious armed robbery suspect identity as Kabiru Yusuf who had been causing sleepless nights to the residents of the state.

The statement reads further, ‘On 10/01/2024 at about 1130hrs, acting based on credible information, operatives of the command’s and anti-robbery team on patrol around Fadaman Bauna intercepted a group of three young men suspected to be armed robbers riding on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.

“The hoodlums abandoned the motorcycle and took to their flight on sighting the policemen but we’re given a hot chase. Consequently, one Kabiru Alhaji Yusuf was arrested while the other two escaped. A search was conducted on him where an AK-47 riffle and a motorcycle wrere recovered as exhibits”.
