It’s his 20th grand slam title – the first person to achieve such feat. Swiss grand slam master, Roger Federer, today, won the Australian Open Tournament in Melbourne, beating Croatian Marin Cilic in a thrilling final match that ended 6-2 6-7(5) 6-3 3-6 6-1.
Despite a rather shaky start to the match, the former world number-one dug out deep to emerge champion on the day.
In tears after the long battle on court, Federer said: “I’m so happy it’s unbelievable.
“It’s a long day waiting for the final.”
“Winning is a dream come true. The fairytale continues for us, for me.
“After the great year I had last year, it’s incredible.”
