Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani Kayode (FFK) has met with Nigeria’s immediate former president, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in his residential house at FCT, Abuja.
Fani Kayode had revealed the meeting on his social media timeline where he posted pictures of himself, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and others and wrote: “My team and I had the honor and privilege of spending a wonderful evening with President Goodluck Jonathan in his Abuja home last night. None like him.”
Femi Fani Kayode and his team met with Dr Goodluck Jonathan in the evening of Tuesday, February 9th 2021.
The purpose of the meeting was not yet made public, but according to a source who pleaded anonymity, the reason behind the visit was not widely unconnected to plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) party to convince former President Goodluck Jonathan to join the ruling party in a prelude to 2023 presidential candidate bids.
Recall that Fani Kayode who is considered as one of the strong members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as one of the most vocal oppositions to the APC Government of Mohammadu Buhari, had a controversial meeting with Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state and the APC National chairman nights ago.
Recall as well that, nights before the meeting with APC Chairman and governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, Fani Kayode had on 6th February 2021 met with Senator Smart Adeyemi in Fani’s residential home in Abuja. Smart Adeyemi is the current Senator representing Kogi West under APC party. He replaced Senator Dino Melaye in a re-run election after Dino’s candidacy was nullified by the court.
The unusual sudden meetings with APC stakeholders raised eyebrows and was interpreted by the media as FFK’s move to dump his dear party for the ruling party on reasons best known to himself alone.
9News Nigeria reported on February 8th that the former Aviation Minister held a closed-door meeting with Mai Mala Buni, the All Progressives Congress (APC) party Caretaker Committee Chairman who is also the governor of Yobe state.
