Federal Government of Nigeria together with millions of Diasporians and Imolites at large have applauded the developmental plan of Governor Hope Uzodinma for attracting the flag-off of a multi million Naira Oguta/ Orashi dredging in Imo state targetted at trade, investment and economic transformation.
At the visit of the Vice President of the Federal Republic, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo Thursday lauded the plan to dredge the Oguta Orashi river linking its river channel to the river Atlantic ocean.
Professor Yemi described the idea as a game changer conceived by Governor Uzodinma to improve the economic status of Imo state. He noted that “the Federal Government will support the Imo state government to bring the dredging to fruition.
While speaking, VC Osinbanjo commended the foresight and political pragmatism of the state governor and reiterated that the governor’s push to attract presidential approval of the project was wonderful.
The Federal Government therefore lauded the expansion of the Imo State economy through the Orashi Free Trade Zone project embarked upon by the Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma.
He further described the Oguta/Orashi project as the “game changer for Imo State, Nigeria, and the West Coast of Africa while disclosing that it is one of a kind project with benefits that have always been glaring.
According to the Vice President, we all owe Governor Hope Uzodinma gratitude for bringing hope to our Nation and our Sub-region.
He urged the Governor to keep up the good work in attracting more development for the State and the Nation through his purpose-driven governance and leadership.
The Vice President disclosed that the project will fulfill the promise of radical sea route transformation from Imo State to the Atlantic Ocean, which will not only be beneficial to the state’s economy but the economy of the South-East, the Nation, the Region, and to all people.
Uzodinma in his address, expressed confidence and optimism for the economic boom through the full realization of the project.
The Governor added that the project will checkmate Crude Oil thefts and illegal bunkers which will save the collective wealth of the State and the Nation.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for many generous acts, especially this recent approval for the declaration of the Orashi River as an Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone and the proposed Sea route from Orashi River, Degema to the Atlantic Ocean.
He wholeheartedly appreciated the Vice President for being part of the joyous celebration with Ndi Imo.
While promising that the Shared Prosperity administration will establish industrial clusters around the region especially industries that will use the Gas deposits in the State, which will further trigger industrial development in the region, Uzodinma thanked President Buhari, VP Osinbanjo, Service chiefs, Minister of trade and industry, Transport Minister, the diasporians and Imolites for supporting the initiative.
Notable diasporians, industrialists and Imolites in general also applauded governor Uzodinma’s economic transformation gesture while praying for its speedy completion and opening up to the Atlantic ocean adding that the project when realized will offer economic opportunities to Imo state, host communities and Nigeria.
The Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo, Chief off Defense staff, Chief of Naval staff, Fellow governors, government Functionaries, women and Youth groups were in attendance to appreciate Uzodinma’s economic plan.
