FG RECOUNTS ORDEALS ON POVERTY ALLEVIATION

The Federal government of NIGERIA has continued to recount her ordeals on several efforts at poverty ALLEVIATION which has not yielded desired results since the scheme was established to cushion the cost of living in the country.

This was in line with the establishment of a national poverty reduction scheme with a growth strategy meant to be a national strategy, not just a federal effort targeted at taking up to 100million NIGERIAN people out of poverty within a specified time frame of 10years.

However, the failure of this program has attracted the wrath of the Nigerian Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who called on the members of the committee to apply common sense in their charge by PRESIDENT BUHARI to deliver on the task of lifting 100 million persons out of the poverty streamline in the next ten years.

VP Osinbajo further hinted to the press the Government’s resolve to improve the welfare of her citizens through this poverty alleviation scheme and charged the members to take a deep dive into proper documentation and paperwork and apply necessary measures to deliver this mandate.

Recall that a lot of the percentage of the Nigerian populace are feeding on the poverty level and the unemployment of the youths has posed a drastic challenge to the Government arm of employment and empowerment.

9News Nigeria reports that this scheme, if handled with the sincerest dedication and sense of duty by its members comprising of governors, technocrats and higher Government Officials, poverty will be a forgotten issue and NIGERIANS will smile again.

But on the contrary, several Government efforts have failed because of greed and insincerity of its members and Government functionaries saddled with such a sensitive responsibility but regrettably turned to derogate the policy of Government and to make Nigeria decline in both infrastructural development and the progress of her citizenry.

It will be worthy of note that Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo frowned at this Development through a release by his spokesman, LAOLA AKANDE stating that the scheme is the NATIONAL strategy as opposed to a FEDERAL strategy which is why the steering committee is made up of federal and state Officials.

Osinbajo stated this at the INAUGURAL MEETING of the NATIONAL POVERTY REDUCTION with GROWTH STRATEGY STEERING COMMITTEE he CHAIRED at the PRESIDENTIAL villa ABUJA over the weekend as 9News Nigeria reports.

The question has been ” how possible can poverty be alleviated in Nigeria??
