The Kaduna State Government has transferred the Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital in Kafanchan to the Federal Government for upgrading to a Federal Medical Centre (FMC).
The development is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery in Kaduna State, particularly in the southern senatorial district, by improving access to specialised medical services.
The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, commended Governor Uba Sani for approving and facilitating the transfer.
According to him, the move aligns with the Federal Government’s healthcare priorities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Salako also acknowledged the governor’s request for existing hospital staff to be protected and integrated into the federal service as federal employees following the transfer.
The upgrade is expected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide advanced medical care and expand access to federal healthcare services in the area.
