Renovation work has massively commenced in Imo Concorde Hotel Owerri at the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria Owerri.
The Concorde Hotel contract has been approved to be delivered in nine (9) months time having kickstarted serious construction work as approved by His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma CON.
It is a known fact that the Hotel having suffered years of neglect, which led to management challenges and the unfortunate collapse of this iconic venture, Imo government under Uzodinma is committed to repositioning Imo Concorde Hotel to world-class standards as the governor has inspected the ongoing renovation works at hotel; historic edifice and a symbol of pride for ndi Imo State.
At Governor Uzodinma’s inspection of concorde hotel, he stated that “The renovation project is a significant step toward revitalizing our hospitality industry and restoring Imo Concorde Hotel as a premier destination for quality service and luxury accommodation.
Meanwhile, the contractor, originally allotted a 12-month contract period, has demonstrated remarkable commitment, assuring completion within nine months.
“This effort represents our dedication to transforming critical infrastructure for the benefit of our people, and from the impressive progress observed during my inspection, I am confident this project will be delivered within the shortest possible time, Governor Uzodinma stated.
The commencement of the renovation of Imo Concorde Hotel Owerri by the 3R Shared Prosperity Administration led by His Excellency Governor Hope Odidika Uzodinma CON is the desire of economic conscious Imolites who have earlier condemned its damaged condition and alleged plans to sell it off. The damaged condition was an outcome of past administration’s negligence to upgrade the hospitality industry in the state.
Recall that several rumours was in the news and circulated over the social media of the alleged moves by same government to sell off the Imo Concorde Hotel which later turned out to the solid outcome of embarking on the renovation as our correspondent reports. 9News Nigeria learnt that the renovation project will take a certain speed to completion without further delay as the Governor has directed.
Also, 9News Nigeria spotted at the scene of renovation the show of seriousness of the contracting firm handling the work and the statement of the lead-contractor who confirmed that the renovation will be very solid and expected to be delivered in nine (9) months time within the one (1Yr) year of contract bid , counting from the month of December 2024.
Inclusive in the contract bid is that both inside and outside view including the rooms, lounge, bar, poolside and the general beautification of Concorde Hotel premesis be worked upon.
This is a commendable approach not only targetted to dowse the rumour from the opposition but to uphold the economic hub of the state under Gov Uzodinma.
The state Ministry of Works in their official capacity is expected to put regular check on this particular renovation project just as the ministry also supervised the construction of the former IICC project near in completion and commissioning.
This therefore will enable the engineering firms handling state infrastructural and road projects in Imo to rise up to action give Ndi Imo solid work than rubbishing the resources of the state on shady standard of work prevalent in many locations across many states in Nigeria.
