Fire Burns Sabon Gari Foodstuffs Market in Kano

An early morning fire has burnt the foodstuffs section of Mohammed Abubakar Rimi market popularly known as Sabon-Gari market.

The fire which started in the wee hours of Saturday when traders and marketers were at home preparing to come out for their normal business activities.

An eyewitness, Adamu Kofar Mazugal, said: “The fire started at about 4 to 5am in Gida Maggi section of the market where foodstuffs are sold.

“We saw a thick smoke coming out from the foodstuffs section and we quickly alerted the fire fighters “.

He said foodstuffs such as gari, beans and beverages as well as other properties were burnt.
