The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has warned Nigerians on the devastating food Crises targetted to hit the country by August 2023.

The Government of Nigeria have to mobilize famers at rural communities and equip them with farm products to start cultivation of crops to enable the people feed in the near future.

FAO has therefore estimated 25.3Million Nigerians in danger list of experiencing food crisis between June and August 2023.

Urgent steps are supposedly taken to scale up and sustain livelihood and food assistance as contained in FAO October food and nutrition analysis.

The analysis reportedly indicates that about 17million people including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees in 25 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were in “crises or worse level” through October 2022.

Of that number, the states affected most are 3 Million IDPs living in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe. The heat of food scarcity will affect every region if no drastic action is put in place immediately.

An estimation of 25.3 million people are are projected to be crisis or worst level during the 2023 lean season (June to August) with 4.4 Million in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

Three out of 25 state are remaining 22 states and the FCT will be worst hit for food Crises still looming.

There is therefore need to partner with International organisations including Food and Agriculture Organisation to plan though on possible ways to eradicate food crisis in NIGERIA.

Government must mobilize immediately while calling on every Nigerian people to cultivate food very seriously, describing this as a call to strengthening the commitment in the fight against Poverty, Food Insecurity and Malnutrition in Nigeria.
