Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, former Minister of Defence, has broken his silence over claims that he resigned because of an alleged planned strike involving the United States and the Nigerian government.
Badaru says a viral publication alleging he resigned over military operations is “entirely false”
“My attention has been drawn to a malicious, false and baseless publication circulating online alleging that I resigned as a Minister of Defence because I cannot stand and watch the U.S and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.

“I want to state categorically and unequivocally that this publication is entirely false and deliberately mischievous. The intent behind this publication is obvious: To tarnish my hard-earned reputation”., he said.
Badaru, 63, announced his resignation in a letter dated December 1, 2025 and sent to President Bola Tinubu, citing health reasons.
In a statement on Wednesday, Badaru said his intention was drawn to an online post claiming he resigned because he “cannot stand and watch US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest”.
