
Former Kwara State Governor and pro-democracy icon, Senator Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, has died at the age of 84.
Family sources confirmed that Adebayo died early Wednesday in Abuja.
Born on February 24, 1941, in Igbaje, Kwrara State, he played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s political and democratic journey.
Adebayo was elected Senator in 1979 under the Unity Party f Nigeria (UPN) and served briefly as Kwara State governor in 1983.
He later became Minister of Communications from 2003-2006 during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.
