PROTOCOL
It is with utmost gratitude and deep sense of honour to extend my warm welcome to you on this special gathering of our very resourceful and multi-talented youths of South-South and to say a Happy New Year to you my beloved youth of South-South Community Abuja.
Today’s gathering is a re-affirmation that the South-South Community in FCT under the Leadership of Ambassador Dickson Omorogie is waxing stronger in its Mission & Vission, as reflected in the ebullient Summit of October 29th, 2022. Our Youth Wing has received the blessings of Parent body to kick start full-fledge Sensitization, Mobilization & Emancipation of our Youths within this Federal Capital Territory which is highly indebted to our Region. This was demonstrated in our presentation of the group to the parent body, the courtesy/solidarity visits to the leadership of the South-South Community, including the Traditional head of the Community.
As the region that lays the golden eggs for our Nation, the South-South must not accept a second- fiddle status in the comity of Federating units of our Nation. We have the Crude oil, intellectual capacity, Population, Network and Goodwill to make our voice re-sounding in Abuja and its environs. But our youths must therefore eschew ethnic bigotry, Militancy, Drug Abuse, Pipeline Vandalism & other forms of Economic Sabotage. Let us stop betraying our Regional interests for cheap gains that do not last into the morning.
This is the purpose of our Proposed January 28th, 2023 Town Hall meeting to tackle basic deprivations, unemployment, and Non-inclusiveness of South-South Youths in FCT. Sensitization of our youths will be a continuous exercise through 2023 to ensure that we harness opportunities in the Ministry of Niger-Delta, Amnesty Program, Ministry of Youths & Sports, National Youth Council of Nigeria, National Directorate of Employment, Office of the FCT Minister, FCT Senator Phillip Aduda, House of Reresentatives, the Area Councils, etc. This will ensure more Employments, ICT Training opportunities, Empowerments/Entrepreneurships, and other Self-Reliance models.
Finally, we must remain resolute in making our voices louder, our unity must be deeper and our solidarity must be stronger against the sinister Water Resources bill, Decapitation of our Seaports, Non-repairs of Refineries, Non-Completion of East-West Road, etc.
I thank my co-executives and all pioneer youth members present here for giving me undaunted support so far.
Once again, I welcome you all and thank you for your kind attention.
