Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew has called for an independent investigation into the controversy surrounding the alleged existence of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and claims involving the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, June 25, 2026, Adeyemi questioned the disclaimer issued by Gbajabiamila, who had reportedly distanced the Office of the Chief of Staff from PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC).
Adeyemi argued that the matter goes beyond personal disagreements, insisting that Nigerians deserve explanations over how an alleged non-existent agency could appear in official government records, including the 2026 Appropriation Budget.
He challenged the denial, asking how the agency’s name reportedly appeared on pages 50 and 51 of the budget document if it was not recognised by government.
According to him, the budget process passes through several stages involving executive officials, ministries, the Budget Office, and the National Assembly, raising questions about how such a reference could have entered official documents.
Adeyemi also questioned the involvement of other government institutions, alleging that PFIPC had accounts linked to the Central Bank of Nigeria, office space at the Federal Secretariat, and staff approvals, despite claims that the agency does not exist.
He accused the Chief of Staff of attempting to portray him as a fraudulent actor and rejected allegations that his activities were unlawful.
Adeyemi further alleged that the disagreement between him and Gbajabiamila was connected to a disputed request involving a percentage of a proposed take-off grant for the agency, claims that have not been independently verified.
The former PFIPC-linked figure called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to establish an independent investigative panel to examine the controversy, including official documents, budget references, institutional records, and the death of an individual he identified as an intermediary in the matter.
He also urged the panel to investigate alleged attacks on his life and publish its findings transparently.
Adeyemi maintained that he was ready to cooperate with any lawful inquiry, stressing that only a transparent investigation could resolve the dispute.
“Let the investigation speak. Let the documents speak. Let the truth emerge,” he said.
