Gomal Baptist College Hosts Twenty Second Graduation Ceremony
The prestigious Gomal Baptist College saw 40 students graduate from its boarding house on 5th August,2023 marking both an end of an era and the beginning of new journeys.
The event was held in the school’s Grace Hall beginning at 11am. Hostel prefect girl Aderinsola Adekanmbi opened the ceremony with reflections on her time in the hostel. Fellow graduates then shared their experiences, from bonding with hosts of friends to navigating academic challenges together.
Some alumni (Joshua Oloyede, who anchored the panel discussion; Alabi Emmanuel and Oladepo Marvelous) attended as guest speakers. In their speeches, they recounted both triumphs and trials since leaving the institution—from pursuing different fields than their studies to combining academics with skills training. Both expressed initial anxieties about the future but emphasized following passions.
After their remarks, current students engaged in intellect-testing games and karaoke, reminiscing on daily activities and routines from their hostel days. The ceremony focused heavily on themes of transition, community, and individually defining success beyond education shelters.
As lunch was served by staff, graduates crowded around alumni asking for advice and contacts. Well into the afternoon, dancing and merriment continued among the class of 2023 as they savored final moments together before returning to separate paths.
The event underscored both the nostalgia in closing this chapter and uncertainties lying ahead. Only time will tell how each student’s journey unfolds outside the hostel’s halls. For now, memories from their boarding years will have to sustain them.
